About museum

In 1979 the Mariinsk City Local History Museum was opened. It houses materials on the history of the town and district, as well as the nature of the Mariinsk district. The museum's collection comprises 10,480 exhibits. The museum features nine exhibitions: flora and fauna, paleontology and archaeology, the cosmonautics hall, the merchants' hall, the Hall of the Revolution and Civil War, the Hall of the Great Patriotic War, the old photographer's room, and the exhibition hall. The "Land of Ancestors" exhibition is located on the museum's courtyard grounds. Visitors can take part in off-site excursions, museum classes and lectures, as well as theatrical tours in the "Land of Ancestors" exhibition.
