Maloyaroslavets Museum and Exhibition Center named after I. A. Soldatenkov was opened on June 13, 1998. It has two exhibition halls, including a museum founded on the personal collection of the artist I. A. Soldatenkov, consisting of items of decorative and applied and fine arts, ethnography, and the donor’s personal archive. A library donated by I. A. Soldatenkov is also housed here, consisting of rare copies written in Old Church Slavonic, as well as books on cultural studies, history, and art history. The Center features a permanent exhibition "Great Kinship" based on the personal collection of a descendant of A. K. Savrasov, the artist O. B. Pavlov, as well as the works of the Honorary Citizen of Maloyaroslavets, restorer and member of the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation V. D. Matveichev — the "Intarsia Museum." The museum's purpose is the preservation and enhancement of Russia's cultural heritage, the development of museology, a modern school of painting, the education and upbringing of youth, and the support of young artists.
