About museum
The Gamzat Tsadasa Literary and Memorial Museum is a branch of the A. Taho-Godi National Museum of Dagestan, opened in 1978. It houses over 1,800 exhibits related to the life and work of Gamzat Tsadasa, the Dagestani founder of Avar literature and a poet. Most exhibits are books and photographs, including unique Arabic books from the 16th–20th centuries from the poet's personal library. The museum also displays personal belongings and letters, as well as furniture, household items and other artifacts that reflect the era. On the upper floor are G. Tsadasa's study, the room of his eldest son Magomed, a common room and a veranda where the poet and his family liked to spend the summer. The museum hall, covering 262 sq. m, offers visitors the opportunity to learn about Gamzat Tsadasa's life and activities.
