About museum
On April 22, 2022, the Cultural and Exhibition Center was opened in Spas-Demensk, becoming one of the city's main sights. On the first floor there is a historical exhibition consisting of several halls. In the 'Russian Izba' are displayed tools, items of clay and wooden tableware, embroidered ritual towels (rushnyky), and more. In the exhibition hall you can see showcases with traditional women's clothing of the Spas-Demensk region from the late 19th to the early 20th century. Also on display are liturgical items, old books from the early 20th century, and icons. Portraits of local fellow-countrymen who were heroes of the Great Patriotic War (World War II), whose names the Spas-Demensk land is proud of, are hung on the walls. At the center of the exhibition about the Great Patriotic War there is a diorama of the battle for the Gnezdilovskaya Heights with a mark on the map at 233.3. The Hall of Labor Glory presents the history of the organizations and enterprises of the town and district that contributed to the development of Spas-Demensk.
