About museum
In 1957 the Krasnoyarsk Regional Art Gallery was opened in Krasnoyarsk; in 1983 it was renamed the Krasnoyarsk Art Museum named after V. I. Surikov. It houses the Department of Decorative and Applied Arts, which presents works from various regions of Russia. They are acquired from artists and collectors, as well as gathered by research expeditions. Special attention is paid to works by Krasnoyarsk applied artists, as well as items of rural and urban everyday life in Siberia. In addition, the museum is interested in contemporary applied art of Siberia, specifically the art of Krasnoyarsk and the Krasnoyarsk Region. The museum hosts temporary exhibitions from its own collection and from loaned collections.
