Kungur Local History Museum
About museum
The local history museum was opened in 1909 and has been housed in the Town Magistrate building since 1955. Here you can see unique items that attest to the archaeological past of the region and the socio-economic development from the 18th to the 20th century. In particular, you can see the book of K. T. Khlebnikov, bequeathed by the scholar to his native Kungur and forming the basis of the city's first public library, as well as materials on the karst of the Sylva-Iren region. You can also see unique minerals, instruments, photographs, documents and books recounting the history of cave exploration. The museum displays a figure of A. T. Khlebnikov, the oldest guide and popularizer of the Kungur Ice Cave, with which visitors can take photographs.
