The Kaliningrad Regional Historical and Art Museum is a contemporary of the region, having begun its activities in 1946. Today the museum offers visitors a large collection of items including natural science, archaeological, historical and art exhibits. The museum building is located in the Stadthalle — an architectural monument of the early 20th century. It presents the history and natural wealth of the Kaliningrad Region, and provides an account of the military operations during the Great Patriotic War and the formation of the young Kaliningrad Region. The museum hosts more than 50 exhibitions on various topics, including major international projects. In addition, the museum includes the 'Bunker' museum in Kaliningrad, the military glory museum 'Fort No. 5', the Kristijonas Donelaitis Memorial Museum and the Tapiau Castle complex.
