In 1993 the museum moved to another building. The Samarskaya Luka Historical and Local Lore Museum is a unique place that presents not only natural attractions but also the rich history and cultural traditions of the Volga bend. On November 18, 1959 the Zhiguli Local History Museum was established, and in 1960 it opened to visitors. The museum houses extensive materials about the great hydroelectric construction project, artists' paintings, and models of turbines, hydro units and locks. However, further work on developing the museum was suspended due to lack of space. Nevertheless, the museum continued operating by giving lectures and holding exhibitions. In 1993 the museum was moved to another building. It is one of the main attractions of Samarskaya Luka.
