P.K. Sharapov Local History Museum
About museum
The P.K. Sharapov Local History Museum is the successor to the People's Museum of the town of Danilov, opened on September 15, 1967. In the 1960s, an initiative group consisting of historian I. E. Beloselsky, local artist S. N. Serzhpinsky, and the teacher of City Secondary School No. 2 P. K. Sharapov collected materials, objects, photographs and memories related to the history of the Danilov region. The city authorities housed the museum in the House of Pioneers. Museum staff and workers of the House of Pioneers organized field expeditions throughout the Danilovsky District, which increased the museum’s holdings to 21,000 items. The museum’s collection will acquaint you with the history of the Danilov land, its heroic past and present, the traditions and customs of the Danilovsky uyezd, and the local nature, animals and birds. Today the museum occupies a building that is a federal monument of history and culture, the former men's city school.
