M. Y. Lermontov State Museum-Reserve
About museum
The museum of Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov was founded in 1912 and is dedicated to the memory of the great Russian poet. It is one of the first literary-memorial museums in Russia, located in the house where Lermontov spent the last months of his life and wrote his final poems. Today the museum consists of four historic Pyatigorsk estates. The Literary Department displays materials dedicated to the poet. The museum also includes Lermontov's Cottage, where the atmosphere of the era in which the poet lived has been preserved. In the 1970s the department 'Lermontov in Visual Arts' was opened. In 1997 the Alyabyev House, where Alexander Alyabyev lived, was opened. Thus, the museum offers visitors a rich collection of materials about the life and work of M. Y. Lermontov.
