About museum

Bolgar State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve is a research and educational institution engaged in the study, preservation and promotion of historical and cultural monuments located on its territory. It is a departmental institution funded from the republican budget of the Republic of Tatarstan. It has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List for the Russian Federation (the waiting list) and is recognized as an object of historical and cultural heritage at the federal (all-Russian) level and as a particularly valuable object of cultural heritage of the Republic of Tatarstan. It was added to that list in 1998.
