Art Museum - Exhibition Hall
About museum
The Art Museum building is located on the main street of the historic center of Lipetsk, in the former noble quarter, and is one of the most prestigious sites in the modern city. The house that became the gallery was built in the Neoclassical style and belonged to the Lipetsk branch of the Pushkin family on the maternal side. In 1837 the future Emperor Alexander II and his tutor V. A. Zhukovsky stayed here, as confirmed by historical documents. In 1918 the property belonging to Gubin was officially expropriated, and afterwards the building housed the Council of Workers' and Soldiers' Deputies, and later the Lipetsk Uyezd Executive Committee. In 2006 the building underwent restoration, after which the museum was able to expand the scope of its activities.
