About museum
The State Literary Museum was established in 1934. Currently its collection includes more than half a million items, which are presented in eleven exhibitions known not only in Russia but also abroad. These are: "F. M. Dostoevsky Museum-Apartment", "A. P. Chekhov House-Museum", "A. V. Lunacharsky Museum-Apartment", "A. I. Herzen House-Museum", "M. Y. Lermontov House-Museum", "A. N. Tolstoy Museum-Apartment", "M. M. Prishvin House-Museum in Dunina", "B. L. Pasternak House-Museum in Peredelkino", "K. I. Chukovsky House-Museum in Peredelkino", "Silver Age Museum" and the "Information and Cultural Center 'A. I. Solzhenitsyn Museum' in Kislovodsk". The museum hosts various events almost every day: literary and musical evenings, theatrical performances, academic meetings, conferences, children's celebrations, competitions, interactive sessions and lectures. The museum staff actively communicate with colleagues from other cultural institutions, share knowledge and experience, and assist researchers of the history of Russian literature and culture.
