The Municipal Budgetary Cultural Institution 'Yefremov District Art and Local History Museum' is located in a building constructed in the 3rd quarter of the 20th century, which is a historical and cultural monument of the district. The museum was opened in December 1971 with an exhibition of paintings by Yefremov artists dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the liberation of the town and district from Nazi German occupiers. The collections of the MBKI 'Yefremov District Art and Local History Museum' include more than 14,300 items of the main fund and over 11,000 auxiliary items, with objects dating from the 19th century to the present day. The exhibits in the archaeological hall are the oldest in terms of age, and the museum's natural science collection comprises over 150 items. In addition, the museum has a large collection of written and printed sources, including rare early printed books, photographic materials, and numismatics.
