Branch 'Memorial Museum of M. V. Isakovsky'
About museum
In 1985, in the settlement of Vskhody, the only museum of the song 'Katyusha' of its kind was opened; it was created through the joint efforts of the residents of Vskhody, Smolensk Oblast and the entire country. The project was initiated by students of the Smolensk State Pedagogical Institute who formed the 'Katyusha' squad. A House of Culture was built to house the museum with funds provided by Mikhail Vasilyevich Isakovsky, who in 1943 received the first State Prize for his poems and songs. In 1997 the museum was renamed the 'Memorial Museum of M. V. Isakovsky'. It displays books, photographs, peasant household items, and more than one hundred versions of the song 'Katyusha'.
