M. Yu. Lermontov House-Museum in Taman
About museum
\r\nOn October 24, 1976, the M. Y. Lermontov Museum in Taman was solemnly opened. On a high, steep bank stand two small houses with white walls and thatched roofs. One of them represents a period of Lermontov's life, and the other is the hut of a reclusive old woman. In the courtyard, enclosed by cobblestones, there are outbuildings: a chicken coop, a well, and a stove. Fishing nets are stretched on poles, and on the shore stands a boat — like the one from which Pechorin tried to throw Lermontov. The museum building houses an exhibition dedicated to the poet's stay in the Caucasus. The exhibits include reproductions of Lermontov's paintings, drafts of his works, and a selection of the poet's books. The house-museum is very popular among fans of Lermontov's work. People come from all corners of the country to see the place where the events of the famous novel 'A Hero of Our Time' took place.
