Bolkhov Local History Museum
About museum
In 1918 the artist I. K. Gavrilov founded the Bolkhov Local History Museum, which contained more than 12,000 historical and art exhibits dating from the 16th century. During the Great Patriotic War most of the collections were destroyed; however, the museum was restored in 1946. Here you can find a history hall with archaeological items, weapons and armaments; an ethnographic hall with household items; a hall dedicated to the region's nature; and a painting hall with works from the 18th–19th centuries. The uniqueness of the museum is emphasized by the authenticity of its exhibits.
