A. M. Gorky Literary Museum
About museum
On May 22, 1928 the Literary Museum in Nizhny Novgorod was opened; it was dedicated to the 60th anniversary of A. M. Gorky. It is a state museum. In the same year a decision was made to relocate the museum to the house of V. M. Burmistrova (née Rukavishnikova). It was officially placed under state protection in 1989. The building has a total area of 0.2 ha and a floor area of 1,115 sq. m. The museum exhibits personal belongings of A. M. Gorky as well as of other representatives of Russia's literary and cultural heritage. The collections include memorabilia related to the life and work of A. M. Gorky, including his travels within Russia and abroad. Materials on the life and work of other figures of Russia's literary and cultural heritage are also presented here.
