The village of Medvedki in the Kotlas District of Arkhangelsk Oblast is home to the House-Museum of the Hero of the Soviet Union, Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union N. G. Kuznetsov. The museum's history began in 1988, when the executive committee of the district council decided to build the house-museum on a voluntary basis. It was opened in 1990, and since then visitors have been able to see Admiral Kuznetsov's personal belongings, items from his family, documents, household objects and the interior. The museum has a library with more than 150 publications about and by N. G. Kuznetsov. Various maritime-themed programs are also available for guests. The museum's exhibits are continually updated, and traveling exhibitions organized by the library take place throughout the Kotlas District.
