F. E. Dzerzhinsky House Museum
About museum
The F. E. Dzerzhinsky Museum was opened on June 11, 1938, in the house where Dzerzhinsky lived during his exile in 1899. Until 1995 it bore the name F. E. Dzerzhinsky House Museum; it was then reequipped as the Museum of the History of the village of Kai and became a branch of the district historical museum. In 2016 it was renamed the F. E. Dzerzhinsky House Museum. The museum building is wooden, one-story, and is of regional importance. The exhibition is devoted to the life and everyday life of peasants of the late 19th — early 20th centuries. The museum conducts guided tours on the history of the Kai area, the life and everyday life of peasants, and F. E. Dzerzhinsky during his Vyatka exile. For schoolchildren a local history circle "Istoki" ("Origins") is organized, and for adults — an interest club "Sobesednik" ("Interlocutor"). The museum has budgetary status and a land plot of 0.6 ha, exhibition area of 106 sq. m. The average number of visitors per year is 1,200. The museum's structure includes an archive, a library, an audio archive, and a total of 798 storage units, of which 461 are items of the main collection.
