Menshikov Palace

About museum

The palace of the first governor of Saint Petersburg, Alexander Danilovich Menshikov, a close associate of Peter the Great, is an iconic monument of the Petrine era. During your visit you can get acquainted with the furnishings of interiors from the first quarter of the 18th century and with works of fine and decorative-applied arts. The palace's main attraction is the interior exhibition created on the basis of original items from the Hermitage collections in rooms that have preserved their 18th-century decoration.

Visitors will be able to see the restored interiors of the palace — the vestibule and ceremonial staircase, the walnut cabinet, the reception room, the bedroom, and the dining room. The rooms finished with white-and-blue Dutch tiles are particularly beautiful. The exhibition includes household items and works of art from the late 17th to the first third of the 18th century, as well as the few surviving memorial items that belonged to Emperor Peter I and his closest associate, the palace's owner.

The palace can only be visited as part of guided tour groups at scheduled times.
