Barabinsk Local History Museum

The Barabinsk Local History Museum was opened in spring 1982 in the building of the SPTU-24 vocational school library on Lenin Street. The museum's director was Innokentiy Petrovich Zherikov, and from 1987 — Valentina Ivanovna Pokrashenko. In 1991 the museum received state status, and since 2011 it has been headed by Mikhail Anatolyevich Ignatov. The museum's exhibition halls include: "Nature of the Baraba Region", "Peasant Izba (traditional wooden house)", "Barabinsk Residents during the Great Patriotic War", "Artists of Siberia", "History of the Founding of the City of Barabinsk". The museum conducts tours, meetings with war and labor veterans, and has developed cultural and educational programs. The museum's main collections include: "Numismatics", "Phaleristics (orders and medals)", "Notaphily (banknotes)", "Painting", "Natural History", "Documents", "Newspapers", "Applied Arts", "Ceramics", "Wood", "Metal", "Sound Archive", "Books, Brochures, Magazines", "Photography", "Deltiology (postcards)" and "Other".
