Barabinsk Local History Museum

The Barabinsk Local History Museum was opened in spring 1982 in the building of the SPTU-24 library on Lenin Street. The museum director was Innokenty Petrovich Zherikov, and from 1987 — Valentina Ivanovna Pokrashenko. In 1991 the museum was granted state status, and since 2011 it has been headed by Mikhail Anatolyevich Ignatov. The museum's exhibition halls include: 'Nature of Baraba', 'Peasant's izba (peasant hut)', 'Barabinsk residents during the Great Patriotic War', 'Artists of Siberia', and 'History of the founding of the town of Barabinsk'. The museum offers guided tours, meetings with war and labor veterans, and has developed cultural and educational programs. The museum's main collections include: 'Numismatics', 'Phaleristics', 'Bonistics (banknote collecting)', 'Painting', 'Natural history', 'Documents', 'Newspapers', 'Applied arts', 'Ceramics', 'Wood', 'Metal', 'Sound archive (phonotheque)', 'Books, brochures, journals', 'Photography', 'Philocarty (postcards)' and 'Other'.
