About museum
The museum hosts various exhibitions, lectures, master classes and other events annually.
The Askiz Local History Museum named after N. F. Katanov is located in the village of Askiz in a two-story wooden building built in the second half of the 19th century. According to one version, this was previously the summer residence of Petr Ivanovich Kuznetsov, the city head (mayor) of Krasnoyarsk. At that time the resident was Innokenty Ivanovich Karatanov, the father of a well-known artist. The museum covers local history and features sections: 'Ethnography', 'Scientist Nikolai Fedorovich Katanov', 'History of the village of Askiz and the Askiz district', 'Hall of Military Glory'. In the office of the first Khakas scientist, Professor N. F. Katanov, biographical data and documents on his scientific activities are presented. The 'History of the village of Askiz and the Askiz district' exhibition displays materials from the museum collection. 'Ethnography' presents a fragment of a traditional Khakas yurt, and the 'Hall of Military Glory' is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War.
