The Architectural and Ethnographic Museum "Taltsy" is a unique place to learn about the history, architecture and ethnography of the 17th–20th centuries. The museum features four historical and cultural zones: Russian, Buryat, Evenk and Tofalar. The main attractions are the Spasskaya drive-through tower (1667) and the Kazan Church (1679) of the Ilimsky ostrog. It is not only a site for preserving monuments of traditional wooden architecture, but also a popular tourist center. Regional, provincial and international events are held here, as well as folk holidays such as Christmas, Maslenitsa, Easter, Trinity, and the "Khorovod of Crafts on Irkutsk Land" festival. The museum's collections comprise over 30,000 items, and it receives more than 150,000 visitors a year. Currently the museum is continuing the reconstruction of the Ilimsky ostrog and the construction of the Traktovaya historical and cultural zone.
