About museum

At the Alnash Museum staff collect information about the holidays, customs and history of Udmurtia. There is also a folk-drama ensemble 'Daur' that recreates the rites of the southern Udmurts. They took part in the filming of the Udmurt Television documentary 'Wedding of the Southern Udmurts' and have several ritual scripts. In the district there is still an active pagan prayer house Kuala in the village of Kuzebaevo. The museum hosts various lecture series on local history, Udmurt rites, patterned weaving and the clothing of the southern Udmurts. The district has recreational places such as the Varzi‑Yatchi sanatorium with mineral waters and therapeutic muds, as well as the ancient pagan prayer house Badzym Kuala in the village of Kuzebaevo, located 20 km from the museum.
