A. I. Kuindzhi Museum-Apartment
About museum
The Kuindzhi Museum-Apartment is an unforgettable place that recreates the atmosphere that long surrounded the legendary artist. Arkhip Ivanovich Kuindzhi spent the last 13 years of his life in the house. The studio contains an exhibition reflecting his teaching activities at the Academy of Arts, where he served as a professor of landscape painting and headed the studio from 1894 to 1897. The apartment drew Kuindzhi's attention because of its large mansard room, which offered views of the city, Vasilievsky Island, and the Petrograd Side. After the master's death, his pupil Nikolai Roerich proposed creating a museum in the studio, which was done for the 150th anniversary of Arkhip Kuindzhi's birth. At the museum you can not only see fine landscapes but also learn about the history of Russian painting.
