Cultural gatherings at the Teleshov House

This week at the Teleshov House there will be charity events dedicated to the history of Russian traditions. Funds raised will be directed to the restoration of the mansion.

📅 September 25, 7:00 PM — Lecture on Russian wedding traditions

Historian Kirill Klopkov will talk about:
— how dowries were assembled,
— how weddings differed among merchants, townspeople and peasants,
— why a pin was fastened to the wedding dress,
— why the wedding procession was sprinkled with grain and hops.

📅 September 27, 6:00 PM — Tea-talk “Tea traditions and the Karzinkins (merchant family)”

Researcher and tea merchant Nikolai Kulapov will tell how tea turned the peasant Karzinkin into a merchant-magnate, which age-old tea traditions survive to this day, who lived and visited the Teleshov-Karzinkin mansion and how it has changed over the years. Special guest — Natalia Khalezova, great-granddaughter of S. S. Karzinkin.
