Exhibition "Objectively about Music"
About exhibition
The exhibition brings together works by masters of different generations — from Moisey Nappelbaum and Alexander Rodchenko to striking contemporary photographic artists such as David Glorian and Evgeny Evtyukhov. Most of the materials on display come from the museum's collection of photographic positives and negatives, as well as from musicians' personal archives. The exhibition presents the musicians' creative laboratory — in the photographs Sergei Rachmaninoff rehearses; stars of the world opera stage practice "Kalinka" for the gala concert dedicated to the opening of the Football World Cup on Red Square; beloved performers in domestic settings during moments of rest. Works by photo correspondent of the magazine "Soviet Music" Semyon Henkin, photojournalist for "Izvestia" and "Nedelya" Viktor Akhlomov, photo-reportage master Valery Gende-Rote, Evgeny Evtyukhov and many others are on display. The exhibition is accompanied by audio recordings from the collections of the Russian National Museum of Music and by video materials that illustrate or complement the exhibits, creating the effect of a "living photograph." These include the most vivid and rare recordings of concerts and performances, as well as excerpts from television films.
