V. S. Sorokin Art Museum — House of the Master
About museum
In 1919 the building that houses the museum was visited by famous artists from Moscow: I. S. Efimov and N. Y. Simonovich-Efimova. They were known as masters of animal painting and for their superb use of color. The building was constructed in 1910 in the Art Nouveau style by architect V. Freiman and was called the 'House of Pharmacist V. K. Vyazhlinsky.' The museum was established in 1992 on the occasion of V. S. Sorokin's 80th anniversary and is an architectural monument. The first floor contains a salon where musical evenings and creative meetings are regularly held; the second floor houses the exhibition hall. The museum promotes the visual arts, mounts exhibitions, acquires works for its collection, and studies and systematizes V. S. Sorokin's creative legacy. In the 'House of the Master' salon evenings are held where talented children and professional performers present classical music.
