About museum

'Museum of History, Culture and Public Education of the city of Ardon' is part of the 'National Museum of the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania' as a branch. The project to create the museum was proposed by teachers of Ardon Secondary School No. 2, A. Kh. Gabanova and A. N. Gabisova, and in 1964 a school museum was opened. The museum's exhibition covers the period from the founding of Ardon (1824) to the present. It is presented through permanent thematic displays: ethnographic, historical-thematic, and those dedicated to the cultural life of Ardon. Unique exhibits include the theatrical costumes of People's Artists of the USSR V. Tkhapsaev and N. Salamov, as well as materials of B. Kulaev, the first Olympic prize-winner from Ossetia. The exhibition also includes military-related materials from participants of the Great Patriotic War and Heroes of the Soviet Union.
