Ardon Museum of History, Culture and Education in the city of Ardon
About museum
The 'Museum of History, Culture and Popular Education of the city of Ardon' is part of the 'National Museum of the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania' as a branch. The project to create the museum was proposed by teachers of Ardon Secondary School No. 2, A. Kh. Gabanova and A. N. Gabisova, and in 1964 a school museum was opened. The museum's exhibition covers the period from the founding of Ardon (1824) to the present. It is presented through permanent thematic displays: ethnographic, historical-thematic and dedicated to Ardon's cultural life. Unique exhibits include the theatrical costumes of People's Artists of the USSR V. Thapsaev and N. Salamov, as well as materials of B. Kulaev, the first Olympic medalist from Ossetia. The exhibition also features military subjects with materials from participants of the Great Patriotic War and Heroes of the Soviet Union.
