The Ukhta Historical and Local Lore Museum was opened to visitors on August 22, 1981, and is located in an old wooden building constructed in 1935. The museum exhibits documentary materials on the city's history and on the development of the region's oil and gas industries; items of traditional Komi everyday life; archaeological and natural science collections. The museum features five permanent exhibitions that introduce visitors to the history of the city and district, its natural wealth and cultural characteristics. The museum foyer houses the tourist information center for Ukhta and the Ukhta district. The museum invites visitors to explore its diverse collections and gain interesting insights into the life and culture of the region.
