Exhibition 'The Evolution of Tolstoy's Image in Visual Arts: From Ge to Ginzburg'
About exhibition
Visitors will become acquainted with the life and work of the great Russian writer, philosopher, educator and public figure through the prism of his image as perceived by well-known Russian artists who were close associates and friends of Tolstoy. Guests will see an entire gallery of painted and graphic portraits and sculptures created at different times at the Tolstoy family estate and at the Khamovniki estate in Moscow; through colors and drawings they will sense how differently Ge, Repin, Pasternak, Orlov, Ginzburg, Klodt, the writer's daughter Tatyana Sukhotina-Tolstaya and other masters revealed, both to themselves and to viewers, the secret of the Russian genius, one of the most outstanding thinkers of world culture.
