About museum
In 1985 the district historical and local history museum was established, dedicated to the history of Zhizdra Uyezd, peasant life, the Great Patriotic War, the district's nature, the 20th century and the modern Zhizdra region. The museum presents three halls with 15 collections: painting, graphic art, sculpture, applied arts, everyday life and ethnography, numismatics, archaeology, rare books, weapons, documents, items from the natural science collection, objects illustrating the history of technology, printed materials and others. In 2010 the museum was robbed, but thanks to help from people around the world its exhibition was restored. The museum also offers guided tours, holds lectures, and local schoolchildren can, by prior arrangement, explore the museum.
