Zakharovsky Local History Museum
About museum
In 2004 the Zakharovsky Local History Museum was established in response to numerous requests from district residents for the 350th anniversary of the village of Zakharovo. It opened on December 3, 2004, thanks to the efforts of honored local historian I. A. Morozov (1900–1976). The museum preserves his works and extensive material on the history of the village of Zakharovo and the Zakharovsky district. It is located in the center of the village, in the old building of Zakharovskaya Secondary School No. 1. Over its 16 years of existence the number of exhibits has grown to 2,800. The museum features three halls: an ethnographic hall, a hall of military glory, and a small exhibition hall. In 2011 a new exhibition — 'Blessed Elder Pelageya of Zakharovo' — was opened, which attracts many pilgrims.
