Exhibition Hall 'Zolotaryovskoye Settlement'
About museum
\r\nThe exhibition hall of the museum 'Zolotaryovskoye Settlement' is located in the House of Culture of the settlement of Zolotaryovka in the Penzensky District. It opened in September 2006.
\r\n
\r\nVisitors are invited on an exciting journey to the 13th century: they will see not only more than a thousand items in the museum, but can also immerse themselves in those distant times by visiting the fortress area, the remains of which are located near the settlement. In the museum you can see jewelry, weapons, and fragments of household items that belonged to various peoples who lived in this fortress more than 800 years ago.
\r\n
\r\nIn the summer, in June–July, archaeological excavations are carried out on the extensive grounds of the fortress. Over several years of excavations, several tens of thousands of arrowheads, tens of thousands of other items, and several hoards have been found.
\r\n
\r\nEach year the Penza Regional Museum of Local Lore holds on the territory of the archaeological monument the festival 'Zolotaryovskoye Settlement — Crossroads of Civilizations'. Guests from Penza, other cities and even other countries can watch on the festival day a battle of warriors defending the fortress against an attacking enemy. All warriors are dressed in the armor of those years. Up to five thousand people attend the festival. The museum offers guided tours, quests, and costumed battle reenactments for visitors.
