Voskresensky District People's Local History Museum
About museum
S. N. Belyaev's estate is a historical and architectural monument of regional significance. The estate includes a linden park that was laid out in 1904. The main building was constructed in 1905 and features wooden architecture in the Art Nouveau style with elements of Russian wooden architecture. The mansion's hall contains a historic ceiling painting (plafond) reflecting motifs of timber rafting in the Povetluzhye region. The building's form alludes to the belyana — a huge flat-bottomed barge. Since 1977 the estate has housed the Voskresensky Local History Museum. The museum's exhibition is devoted to the construction and rafting of belyanas in the Voskresensky district, as well as to the history of merchant and peasant life at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries. The estate hosts tours, master classes, quests, and folk games based on authentic local history materials.
