Military-Historical Museum Complex 'Sambek Heights'
About museum
\r\nThe People's military-historical museum complex 'Sambek Heights' was established at the initiative of veteran and public organizations with the support of the Governor of Rostov Oblast. Its territory covers nearly 14 hectares. The architectural and design solution combines memorial and museum facilities with a landscaped park area, creating a space for both remembrance of the war and recreation. The center of the complex is the Monument of Glory, erected in 1980 in honor of the liberation of Rostov Oblast and Taganrog. The museum building houses an exhibition about the Don during the Second World War. At the interactive 'Breakthrough' area visitors can see examples of weaponry and fortification structures, and on the 'Alley of Remembrance' pay tribute to the fallen soldiers. The monument by D. A. Stritovich and the chapel dedicated to the Resurrection of Christ complement the memorial part of the complex. The 'Height of People's Memory' with the sculptural composition 'Cranes' by S. N. Oleshnei symbolizes the eternal memory of the victors.
