Vilegodsky District Local History Museum
About museum
The local history museum, established in 1966, is located in two rather old volost administration buildings, next to archaeological and architectural monuments. It features a nature hall that attracts children's attention. The museum exhibits one of the region's major finds - the upper part of a mammoth skull, as well as other paleontological specimens. For many years the museum has been engaged in patriotic education of the younger generation, illustrated by the heroic deeds of local people who participated in the Great Patriotic War. In 2012 a permanent exhibition "...from the Vilegod land" was opened, presenting notable people from Viledi, as well as spiritual and material values that give an idea of the 633-year history of this unusual region.
