Ust-Vym Historical and Local Lore Museum
About museum
In 1985 a museum zone was declared in the Zarucheynaya part of the village. Several old structures were moved to this zone, including the Chapel of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple, built in 1882, a barn and a peasant izba built in 1911. The izba's interior was recreated taking into account the life and household of peasants of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Hay was brought in by horse along the track, and vegetables were stored in the cellar. Also moved to the museum zone was the building of the Ust-Vym zemstvo hospital, built at the beginning of the 20th century. It houses a permanent exhibition telling the history of the village from ancient times to the present day. The museum holds unique exhibits, a selection of items and other features. Thus, the museum zone allows visitors to become acquainted with the history and culture of the village and the region.
