About museum

Uglegorsk Local History Museum was the winner of the first regional festival of small museums 'Museum in the 21st Century' and received the Grand Prix of that festival, 'Best Small Museum of Sakhalin Oblast 2013'. Over the past 20 years the museum has been visited by more than 150,000 people, and the visitor book contains more than a thousand reviews from various regions of Russia and abroad. The museum's collection holds more than 3,000 unique items donated to the museum by residents of the town and district. Exhibitions, master classes, celebrations, engaging meetings, and so on are held here. The museum conducts up to 60 tours and lessons, which provide a significant amount of useful historical information, foster a sense of patriotism and love for the homeland, and also help to properly organize leisure time.
