About museum
On October 27, 1987, the Tonshaevsky State Local History Museum opened its doors to everyone. In 1990 it joined the Vetluzhsky State Local History Museum, and in 1992 it became an independent cultural institution. In 2005 a decision was made to grant the museum the status of a municipal cultural institution of the Tonshaevsky District. Today it serves as an educational center where museum pedagogy lessons are held for kindergarten staff in the district. There is also a "Museum and Children" program aimed at kindergarten children. Exhibitions of various kinds of art, photographs, personal collections and other events are regularly held, attracting numerous visitors. The museum hosts a "School of Folk Crafts" where people can study history and revive and preserve the district's traditional trades and crafts.
