The Tomsk Regional State Autonomous Cultural Institution 'Tomsk Regional Art Museum' (TOHM) is one of the largest centers of artistic life in Tomsk Oblast. It was established on October 1, 1979 by a decision of the Tomsk Regional Executive Committee and began its activities in April 1982. TOHM is the only art museum in Tomsk Oblast, and its purpose is research and educational activities in the field of art history. The museum's collections include more than 12,000 works of painting, graphics, sculpture, icon painting, and decorative and applied arts. They feature masterpieces of Old Russian and Western European art, as well as works by contemporary artists. The beginning of the collection dates back to the 1920s, when works by V. Surikov, P. Konchalovsky, Siberian artists, as well as F. Malyavin, A. Lentulov and other masters entered the museum. The museum holds the largest collection in Siberia of works by local artists of the 19th — early 20th centuries.
