Vladimir Pavlovich Groshev – professor, Doctor of Economic Sciences, former rector of the Plekhanov Academy, president of the Academy of Management and Market. He was born on January 20, 1940, at the Chebenki station in the Orenburg Region, but Meshchera became his second small homeland. Groshev decided to create a museum in Meshchera where he wanted to revive old crafts: woodcarving, wicker weaving and painting on wood.
In 1997 he founded the Meshchera Museum of Wooden Architecture in the village of Lunkino in the Klepikovsky District of the Ryazan Region. At the same time he established the Interregional School of Masters, where children and young people could learn from master carvers. Groshev considered the revival of folk crafts in the Meshchera region and introducing children to this authentically Russian art to be the most important thing for him.
Groshev was a philanthropist; he helped restore Kashina's house at the S. Yesenin Museum in Konstantinovo and at its branch in the town of Spas-Klepiki, and he provided assistance in the construction of many churches and orphanages. Groshev is an honorary citizen of the Klepikovsky District. Vladimir Pavlovich Groshev passed away on May 3, 2009.
