About museum

Stavropol Regional Zoo-Exotarium is a non-profit institution focused on cultural education, scientific research and teaching, founded on April 21, 1998. It is a museum of living nature and functions as a zoo. It exhibits more than one hundred species and one thousand animals of various exotic kinds. The exotarium building has 4 halls with 30 glassed terrariums and 13 large aquariums. In 2008 a children's contact zoo was opened where children can not only look at the animals but also feed them and play with a pet they like. To popularize natural science knowledge and promote ecological education among the public, the zoo-exotarium holds extensive displays of animal collections, thematic and overview tours, as well as events of various kinds.
