Shikaroy Architectural Complex

Shikaroy Architectural Complex is the oldest architectural monument in Chechnya and is of historical interest to researchers. It is located in the village of Shikaroy, ten kilometers northwest of the administrative center Sharoy, on a high promontory formed by small streams flowing into the Sharo-Argun on the right bank. The complex consists of residential towers, underground stone structures with stone vaulted ceilings, and a village mosque. The walls of the towers bear many petroglyphs of various kinds. This architectural complex is of historical interest to researchers and is the oldest architectural monument of Chechnya. It represents examples of medieval residential architecture in Chechnya of various forms and sizes, which attracts the interest of researchers studying the medieval pagan cults of the Chechens. This complex still draws attention with its beauty and historical value.
