On March 25, 2013, the Siberian branch of the State Center for Contemporary Art (ГЦСИ) was opened in Tomsk. It was the city's first federal cultural institution and the sixth within the State Center for Contemporary Art's structure. The branch is responsible for all of Siberia. At a press conference, the start of reconstruction of the Gorokhovsky warehouses by architect Kryachkov on the Tom River embankment was announced. The head of the branch was Anna Tereshkova from Novosibirsk, a member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. Since June 2014, Vyacheslav Mizin from Novosibirsk, a member of the internationally renowned art group "Blue Noses", has been appointed head of the branch. GCSI–Tomsk's activities include promoting and supporting contemporary art: various exhibitions, audiovisual projects, installations, performances, video and film screenings, and creative meetings. The State Center also engages in analytical and educational activities, holding lectures, seminars and master classes.
