About museum
In 1997 the Semikarakorsk Historical and Local Lore Museum was established in the Rostov Region at the request of veterans of the Great Patriotic War. The museum hosts literary-historical associations and holds local-history sessions, memorial days, themed evenings and portrait evenings. The museum also serves as a venue for exchange exhibitions of federal, state and departmental museums. The museum's collection comprises more than 17,000 items in the main and scientific-auxiliary funds, including collections of painting, sculpture, written sources, material artifacts, numismatics, and film, video and phonographic materials. The museum features a literary-monographic exhibition on the life and work of Boris Nikolaevich Kulikov, a native writer and laureate of the Sholokhov Literary Prize. Visitors can learn about the everyday life and ethnography of the Semikarakorsk stanitsa from the late 19th to the first half of the 20th century, and view works by Semikarakorsk and Rostov artists.
