Salavat Historical and Local History Museum
About museum
On June 12, 2009 the museum was opened in the former Rodina cinema, built to a standard design by the famous Leningrad architect Z. O. Brod in 1953. Inside the building are elements of the classical style: columns, original stucco ceiling decorations, Art Nouveau panels and double-flight staircases with wrought-iron railings. The exhibition presents a wide range of aspects of the city’s history and life: the development of industry, educational institutions, healthcare and culture, as well as the diorama "Nature and Wildlife of Bashkortostan." On the second floor are the "Bashkir yurt" and "Russian izba" exhibits, which introduce visitors to the ethnography and material culture of Bashkortostan. The museum takes part in cultural events, competitions and exhibitions, and actively cooperates with public organizations.
