In the Novoselenginsk Museum of the Decembrists, exhibits are displayed that recall the Decembrists' uprising in Transbaikalia. It was opened in 1975 on the 150th anniversary of the Decembrist revolution. The museum is located in the house of D. D. Startsev, an honorary citizen of the town of Selenginsk, who was a friend of the brothers N. A. and M. A. Bestuzhev and of K. P. Torson. The building was constructed in the style of noble estates of the 1840s. The museum displays historical photographs, paintings and books, and also hosts Decembrist meetings, plays, concerts and literary evenings. This museum was the first in Transbaikalia dedicated to the Decembrists and is an important historical site.
