\r\nThe Rylsk Local History Museum was founded during the years of the Civil War in an old building constructed at the end of the 19th century. It was the house of the private clinic of Dr. Kalinovsky. S. K. Repina, the grand‑niece of the well‑known painter, was the first director and organizer of the museum. About 22,000 people visit the museum each year. In 2010 it became a branch of the Kursk Regional Local History Museum. The museum's collections consist of 30,000 storage units, including rare books, numismatics, sculptures and paintings of the 18th–19th centuries. The total exhibition area is 440 sq. m. The museum has 14 halls reflecting the history of the Rylsk region. Exhibitions, concerts, literary evenings, local-history programs and master classes are held here.
